I am trying to learn German with my goddaughter - So I purchased this book for her (or both of us LOL) It isn't so bad - she is picking up a lot quite fast. Madchen-Girl. She is able to speak a little too and when we went to the grocery store she pointed out things in German - it was so cute. A lady asked me if she was from German - she had the lady fooled. So it is helpful - it won't teach you how to read/write/speak perfect German but is a great starting place for children and their instructors on trying to learn the language. :)

This is a terrific book. Anytime my girls (3yrs and 6yrs) or I (the mom) want to know what that thing in everyday life is in German, we take a look in this book and we find it as well as a lot of other related words. My 3yr old likes to just look at the pictures even. Quite a few of them put me in mind of the Where's Waldo book pictures.

Have bought many of these books for my handicapped daughter. She loves learning new languages. These last her for, usually, more than one year. I know they would last longer under regular use but, she uses them often, and due to her limited abilities with her hands, she is very rough on them.

I'm an adult, learning German and I felt a fun book like this with pictures to help me remember the nouns would be a lot easier to learn from than just plain text to read.It is that, it's good to see the picture and associate that along with the English meaning. The problem is on a few occassions (about 3) the articles were wrong. The book said the noun was a 'der' when it was a 'die' and so forth. This was huge to me because when learning German nouns, you must know the right article in order to use them in sentences correctly.

The pictures are a great guide for the words used and with English translations on some of them, it helps too.

Heinz Linge worked with Adolf Hitler for a ten year period from 1935 until the Führer's death in the Berlin bunker in May 1945. In fact, Linge believed Hitler's closest companion was his dog Blondi. After the war Linge said in an interview, 'it was easier for him to sign a death warrant for an officer on the front than to swallow bad news about the health of his dog'.Linge also charts the changes in Hitler's character during the period of his service, and the latter's fading health from around 1942. During his last days, Hitler's right eye began to hurt intensely and Linge was responsible for administering cocaine drops to kill the pain. In a number of instances - such as with the Stauffenberg bomb plot of July 1944 - Linge gives an excellent eyewitness account of events. He also gives thumbnail profiles of the prominent members of Hitler's 'court': Hess, Speer, Bormann and Ribbentrop amongst them. About the Author Heinz Linge was born in Bremen, Germany in March 1913. He worked as Hitler’s valet until the Führer shot himself in 1945. He was arrested by the Red Army, which interrogated him about the circumstances of Hitler’s death. Linge was released from Soviet captivity in 1955.
